COVID-19 in slums of megacities

Slum areas are home to roughly a billion people – or one in seven of all people on Earth. With insecure property rights, low-quality housing, limited basic services, and poor sanitation, these informal settlements aggregate risk factors that accelerate the spread of covid-19. Robert Muggah and Richard Florida study the fragility and resilience of megacities including their slums, seeking to encourage data-driven policy decisions.
