UN-Habitat COVID-19 Key Messages

The impact of COVID-19 has been felt across the globe in a wide range of countries and very different environments. The pandemic has already affected countries in every region, making this a truly global situation where every country must take steps to prepare and respond. UN-Habitat has a clear added value in supporting national and local authorities as they take up this challenge.

IFHP has held a special consultative status with the UN since 1947 and with UN ECOSOC since 1949. IFHP is accredited with the UN-Habitat, is a lead member of the World Urban Campaign, and played an active role in multiple UN Conferences on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, World Urban Forums, including Habitat III in Quito in 2016. IFHP partook actively in the drafting of New Urban Agenda not least via experts on two policy units.
